What is Astrophotography?

Astrophotography is taking photos of various objects in the night sky. To do this, cameras need to be able to capture as much light as possible in order to bring out every detail. Astrophotography requires the use of long exposure times. In it's most basic form, astrophotography can be done with a digital camera, a tripod and basic imaging software. The most advanced forms require telescopes, tracking mounts, and DSLR cameras. Many objects in the night sky can be captured, from close objects, such as the moons and planets of our solar system, to deep space objects, such as nebulas and far away galaxies.
